Hi, my name is Lucy. I am a very well behaved dog who is a member of the Tufts Paws for People. I volunteer as a therapy dog and a R.E.A.D. dog. Therapy dogs love to visit with folks and help to make them feel better. Lucy has visited folks in schools, hospitals and nursing homes. Sometimes children are afraid of dogs. Lucy has worked with children to help them feel more comfortable around dogs.

Lucy loves to have stories read to her. She has worked at Newman Elementary School in Needham, MA for 6 years in a first grade classroom. Children would read to Lucy and all corrections would come through the dog. When the children read to Lucy, they were relaxed and wanted to read more. Lucy also visits bookstores and libraries with a special story time.

Lucy is owned by Pat Howes and lives in Walpole, MA. Both Lucy and Pat have retired from teaching at Newman Elementary School. Now they can work more therapy and R.E.A.D. activities.
